Christopher Van Hall

Owner / Lead Attorney

Attorney Christopher Van Hall has held numerous public service positions over his career, including serving as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of West Palm Beach, Florida, the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, and an Assistant Attorney General with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.

In each of these positions he focused on employment and civil rights cases and has defended clients in administrative hearings, arbitrations, state court, and federal court litigation. He has also handled numerous appeals in state and federal court.

  • Now Mr. Van Hall takes his insight and experience from defending employers and the government to help those who are being mistreated. Van Hall Employment Law seeks to bring focused and experienced employment and civil rights litigation to Northern Colorado to fight for individuals whose rights are being violated and have nowhere else to turn.

    With a passion for civil justice and the ability to navigate complicated workplace and constitutional claims, Van Hall Employment Law looks to be a law firm for the people. 

    Mr. Van Hall is member of the Colorado Plaintiff Employment Lawyers Association, and registered to practice law in Colorado and Florida.

    Mr. Van Hall lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife and son. He spends much of his free time hiking, biking, and being actively involved in his local community.

Associate Attorney

Michelle McEwen

Michelle McEwen is an associate attorney at Van Hall Employment Law. Michelle graduated near the top of her class from University of Colorado Law School, earning her Juris Doctor in 2024 along with a Civil Rights & Racial Justice Certificate.

While in law school, she participated in the Civil Practice Clinic, where she successfully represented clients in wage-and-hour and matters. She also served as a Rothgerber Teaching Fellow for Constitutional Law, was an Associate Editor for the University of Colorado Law Review, and earned Order of the Coif honors.

  • Prior to joining the firm, Michelle served as a law clerk to the Honorable Karl L. Schock at the Colorado Court of Appeals, where she drafted opinions in civil, criminal, and administrative matters and conducted extensive legal research and writing on complex appellate issues.

    Michelle brings both her experience and her commitment to civil rights advocacy to her representation of employees. She is passionate about helping workers navigate workplace discrimination, retaliation, wage theft, and other employment disputes with thoughtful and client-centered advocacy.

    Michelle is a member of the Colorado Plaintiff Employment Lawyers Association, the Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association, and the Colorado Women's Bar Association.

    Michelle lives near Boulder with her wife.  Outside of work, she enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
